Doctors, dirt, and dislike

DOCTORS: Today I had a doctor's appointment with an Orthopedic Specialist for my shoulder. For the last month and a half, my shoulder has been getting worse. It started with just pain when I laid on it at night, then got to the point that it hurt A LOT to pick things up, raise my arm, etc. The general practitioner thought it might be a rotator cuff tear. So, they wanted to do x-rays to start but I got a little nervous when the tech told me to change into shorts. I asked why I needed to be in shorts for my shoulder. Glad we got that cleared up. Then, she set up for the left shoulder until I corrected her again. After she was done with the x-rays, she asked me what I was being seen for. ?????
The PA did the strength tests and I pinpointed where it hurt. He talked to me about the rotator cuff and showed me pictures, pointing to the top of the shoulder where my pain was (even though I specifically told him the top of my shoulder doesn't hurt). Once the doctor came in, we went through the same thing, including the "misunderstanding" of the top of my shoulder hurting. Maybe I shouldn't have used my middle finger to point out where I hurt. He told me that I could get a cortisone injection or wait for it to go away. He thinks it's just the tendons are inflammed. I was trying to figure a way to make it stop hurting without getting a shot and he told me when I'd decided to have the PA come and get him. He was a little snotty about it. After deciding to try it, I had to correct him after he tried to prep the left shoulder. I did get some exercises to try and had to tell the PA which shoulder it was...AGAIN.
A little frustrating but hopefully it will help. I think I'll keep my regular doctor appointment for the end of the month just in case. I am a little concerned because we all sign the privacy paperwork but apparently that's only if someone calls for information...they left the computer on in my room and I could see every patient, age, medical problem, and how long they had been in the office. REALLY!?!?!

DIRT: I absolutely love watching Sarah try things she sees me do. There are some things I'd rather not see her do though. I tried cleaning out Kevin's Dodge to get it ready to sell and found these tissues and asked Sarah to take them into the house. She did but didn't leave them. This is how I found her when I got done taking some stuff to the garbage.

See how cute she looks in her gangsta hat. Really, I want you to notice the pooper scooper which is just over her left should leaning against the fence. I had filled it and leaned it here until I went back to the front yard to the garbage cans. The second picture is Sarah following Mommy's example (notice that it's empty). So, I got to pooper scoop twice today.

It actually made me laugh when I saw this even though I had to redo the work. It was a little less disgusting than a couple days ago when she was complaining that her hands were dirty after picking up pinecones before I mowed. I just told her we'd wash her hands after we finished picking up all the pinecones. Then, I looked in the bucket she was filling and found that she wasn't just picking up pinecones (with her bare hands)!

I don't have a picture of it, but today I was tilling the garden area and had her sitting on a rock on the edge of the garden so the dogs would leave her alone. She started pulling a weird face and sticking her tongue out and I saw a big clump of dirt on her tongue. She did decide later that rather than eat it, she would try tilling. She stretched up on her tiptoes until she reached the handles of the tiller and said, "hum on mommy." Love, love, love her...grossness and all!

DISLIKE: I love my mom! She taught me to be strong, hard-working, independent, blah, blah, blah. Usually, these things are good things but when they mix with pride and stubbornness, it's not a good thing. These are branches that I cut off trees last year and they have been sitting in my garden waiting to be burned. Kevin wanted to do a big bonfire but I was always chicken to do it without extra hands. I finally decided they needed to go to the green waste so I could convert the BIG garden to a play area for Sarah. My brother-in-law Nate asks me almost every Sunday (after dinner) if I need help with anything. Last weekend, my ward did a cleanup and I had at least 5 people ask if I needed any help with anything. It's not like I'm even having to ASK for help...I just have to accept the offer. Of course, I tell them all that I can take care of it. Which, I can. BUT...

This is half of the amount that needs to go but I did get it loaded, ready to cover, then hook up to the truck and take to green waste. I even did this while listening to Sarah say, "Mommy, mommy! Watch!" Then, she'd run down the little "hill" saying "weeeeee." Then, we'd start over, "Mommy, mommy! Watch!"

Hopefully, I can lighten up on the stubbornness and pride so Sarah doesn't learn to be so independent that she can't accept help.

So stop acting like Mom already and let us come help. The kids are supposed to do a service project for a family member or neighbor this week and I've been trying to figure out what to have them do. Here you have the perfect project that they can actually help with and you've been holding out on us. Take that load to the green waste place so we can have an empty trailer and we'll bring the kids tomorrow or Saturday and fill it up again.

P.S. Tell Sarah that dog poop is gross!
