Changes, changes

So blogging isn't my strength. So many things to do, so little time. There have been so many changes happening in our lives and it may be even harder to keep up with things.

On April 30, my sister called and asked if we still wanted kids. We had resigned to the fact that we were just going to have dogs and that Heavenly Father had other plans for us and kids. We didn't understand the reasons, but knew that His plans are in our best interest and that He does not leave us alone. A friend of Holly's had a son and daughter-in-law who were having a baby but were planning on adoption because they were not ready for a child of their own. After much discussion and dealing with things like our ages, we decided that it would be a welcome change to our lives.

On May 3, we met the birth parents of our little girl. They seem like good kids; kids being the operative word. Maybe because we're older, 18 and 21 seem really young. They are trying to work things out and get things going for themselves education-wise and marriage-wise. Even though they eventually want children, they do not feel like they can take care of a child while they're working on these other things. They want to give their little girl things they don't feel they are able to right now. They were looking for a couple that have not been able to have their own children and are settled enough to care for their little girl. We are honored that they would entrust this little soul to our care and don't take the responsibility lightly.

She is due June 14. While that seems really close, it seems like an eternity away. We are preparing to welcome Sarah Ethel to our family. There is so much to get done and ready. We have been fingerprinted, background checked, and met with lawyers. It seems like everything in on track.

I went to the doctor's appointment last Wednesday and got to hear Sarah's heartbeat. It sounds healthy and strong! There is another appointment next Wednesday and we'll see how close she is then. Unless she goes over, we will have a little girl within the next three weeks. I'm hoping she comes a little early because I would love to miss the last week of school. I'm getting sub plans ready just in case.

The other big change in our lives right now is that we have found a house in Roy and we are under contract. It is really the house of our dreams (next to Lloyd and Ethel's in Paul). It has a big heated, insulated shop for Kevin and a big yard for me. It's 1/2 an acre and it's 3200 square feet. There are two floors but for now, we're just going to use one of the downstairs bedrooms for my school storage so Kevin doesn't have to see it. It has a bathroom, a second bedroom, a large family room, a kitchen, and 2 food storage rooms downstairs. It will be a good place to have the kids go during family parties and can always be a place for mom if she needs a place to go. We are scheduled to close on July 1 and move in on or around July 6. That's the weekend we'll be at our family reunion so it won't seem so bad not being able to move it. Although, I am very impatient and am having a hard time not moving in right now.

Many fun and exciting changes that I look forward to!
